Here's the finished product! I bought the board from Micheal's. It was normally like $6-$7 but I used a 40% off coupon. I painted it white and it didn't take near as many layers as I expected. I have these large stamp letters that I used. It's hard to see in the photo but the grain in the wood prevented the paint from getting on every spot of the letter so it looks antique-ish/faded. I like it! Then I mod-podged in the opposite direction I had painted twice and finished with a third coat in the same direction I painted. It gave the board a canvased look.
I finished the actual board a few days ago and have been itching to post it on here but couldn't because I didn't have the hooks yet. Got a big pack of those from Lowes for a few dollars. I used my friend's husband's drill bit to start the holes for the hooks after I marked where I wanted them. That made it really easy to screw in the hooks. They're really sturdy too. I spaced them so far apart to allow for room for the top to hang. Here's how it looks with my keys on there:

I was so excited about this! Well, hope you all have a great week :)

Hi! New follower here, but have to say that is such a great idea. In fact, just this morning my bf couldn't find his keys and was running late for work. We only have 4 sets of keys but we still manage to loose them on 1 of our 2 counters. Love the blog!!!

so fun! I love the lettering :)
found you on mad skills Monday & am so glad i popped by :)
Great idea! I really like how you put so many hooks on your board. The ones you buy at the store only have 3 or 4 hooks.
Simple and sweet. I really like your key board. Great job!
