Flower Gift Display

Ok backstory a little... my brother recently started dating this girl. She's a dancer from one of the local high schools. Last night was the area-wide Cheer/Dance competition. So of course he was going to go support her and stuff.

Well yesterday afternoon he calls me and asks if I can find RED DAISIES. Yea, not as easy as it sounds. Lots of places wanted to charge an arm and a leg. Well I found a place that I got all of my corsages and stuff from in high school. They had some red-ish flowers. So I went over there and took a few pics and messaged them to my brother. He picked one out (a maroon color with gold ends... really pretty) and asked for a dozen. Each stem was $2.50. I thought that was per flower but really, each stem has like 3-5 flowers.

It was going to be an extra $15 or so for "presentation". My brother's words... "Just get the flowers. I'll put 'em in a Walmart bag." No joke. That's what he told me. I argued that I'd do something when I got home. Well the flower lady must have heard me arguing with him because she handed me a sheet of tissue paper (free of charge) in case I wanted to do something.

So I get the flowers and get home. I'm trying to figure out how to wrap them with the tissue paper but to no avail. I'm on the phone with my mom and she suggests just putting them in a vase. I wasn't too sure because I knew my brother would complain about having to carry it around. We decided to do it anyways (he's a boy... what does he know?).

I trimmed the ends some and arranged them in a vase. I spent FOREVER trying to figure out how to make a bow. My mom got home about this time and helped me finish. I just googled how. I fastened the bow with a silver twist tie I found. Then attached a rubber band to the back. This helped it stay on the vase (the vase was a straight one).

Then my mom wanted to give her some earrings (my mom makes jewelry, mostly earrings). I picked out some pearl ones. We then looped them to the center of the bow... REALLY PRETTY :)

I took them outside and took some pictures with the borrowed SLR camera.... oooh the pictures came out SO BEAUTIFUL. I think I'm in LOVE :)

When my brother saw them, he was like "I don't think she wears pearls." Well guess what... She LOVED everything! Even the earrings. Take that little brother! I dare you to doubt me and mom again!
