It's crazy easy how this is done! I was at a Women's fellowship at my church this past weekend and we made Christmas gifts. When I saw this, I knew I had to grab my phone and start snapping pictures so I could share it with you guys! (so please excuse the somewhat blah pictures... my iPhone was the closest camera I had)
First get you a square of tissue paper. You'll want to place it on a napkin or something so the ink doesn't bleed through and ruin anything.
Then get your ink and ink of up the stamp of your choice. We used Staz On ink. It has to be permanent ink.
Stamp onto the tissue paper. The base stamp I used had "New Oreleans" themed words in a fancy script.
Then I added a fleur-de-lis stamp on top of that.
Once you finish stamping the tissue paper, you'll need to trim the paper to where it'll fit on the candle.
Get your candle (you can use whatever kind you like... just make sure the color isn't too dark or the ink won't show up).
Then place the tissue paper on the candle. See how it fits exactly?
Now wrap the candle and tissue paper with wax paper. Leave enough so you have a "handle" to hold on the back.
Now use an embossing heat tool (they cost around $20 or so. I got mine on clearance at Walmart for $10). I asked about whether a blow dryer would work but it doesn't get hot enough.
Slowly heat the paper to the candle. Be sure not to stay in one spot too long or the candle will start dripping on you. This is where you'll be happy you have that handle because even with it, it gets REALLY HOT! It'll be done when you can no longer really see the tissue paper. (Mine could've done with a little more heat)
Peel the wax paper off and there you have it! A fancy-shmancy candle that looks like it costs a whole bunch but really is super cheap!

I love these candles and want to make some for Christmas. Do you know if I can print onto the tissue paper and use that for making the candle or does it have to specifically be stamp ink?
I don't stamp but printed my images onto the tissue paper using both an ink jet printer and a laser printer. For both I used repositionable spray adhesive to attach the tissue paper to the card stock. I fed it through the printer then carefully removed the tissue paper from the card stock. I cut my image to size and then used the method you discribed above for getting the image onto the candle. Thank you!!!
Thank you for posting this idea. I am going to use this idea for my daughters wedding wedding reception centerpieces. I stamped my daughters monogram onto light pink tissue paper and heat guned it to the candles. I put the candles in large glass hurricane urns. They look fabulous! Thanks for sharing.
